We Coulda' Been The Greatest In/On Our Field

Below is a list of Corked Bats' Stars Who Coulda' Been Great List. Now for most of these, You may say, "But these stars already are great." And for some you may be right, but the ones who made this list could have been the GOATS (Greatest Of All Time) in their professions had the one (or more) thing not stopped them.

SO with no further adieu, stars who are saying:

"We Coulda' Been The Greatest In/On Our Field!"

You all know
Ken Griffey Jr., aka The Kid. Well, The Kid has somehow transformed into The 39 Year Old Father Of Three. He was supposed to break Hank Aaron's home run record. And legally too, Barry!

• • •

This is Ricky Williams. Ricky really liked weed. Thus retiring early from the NFL, then slowly making his way back taking the CFL route. They should just show his career for one of those Above The Influence commercials. That would get kids to stop smoking pot.

• • •

This guy's name is Grant Hill. We like to call him the Ken Griffey Jr. of the NBA. He came into the league strong, kept hurting himself, and now he is trying to milk his career for all it's worth.

• • •

His name: Yatil Green. Finally a first round wide receiver choice who never amounted to anything and who WASN'T drafted by the Detroit Lions. Yatil tore his ACL on the first day of training camp his rookie year. Didn't play that season. Greg Oden anyone? When he came back in training camp his second year, he tore the same ACL. Yatil did get some NFL action (18 catches for 234) but got more surgeries on his knee than games played (10 surgeries, 9 games played).

Tupac Shakur. Could have been one of the greatest rappers of all time. Unfortunately, in a scuffle outside the Mike Tyson (who could also be on this list) v. Bruce Seldon boxing match in Las Vegas Tupac was shot and killed. Many believe that Tupac is still alive as his music was continued to be released after his death. But dead or alive, Tupac (or 2pac) coulda' been the greatest of all time in his field.

• • •

David Beckham in the U.S. - I solemnly believe that David Beckham is quite possibly one of the greatest soccer (football) players of all time, but his stint in the U.S. for the LA Galaxy would say otherwise. He has been constantly plagued with injury and has not been a head above everyone else in the league as he should be. However, he does have a gorgeous wife.

• • •

Eric Crouch is the second Heisman Trophy Winner on our list. Eric retired from the NFL before preseason even finished. He had a short stint in the CFL. Eric wanted to play quarterback and for obvious reasons, note the picture below.

Mr. Barry Sanders to me, is the greatest running back of all time. Here it comes though, the giant BUT. But, he had such a short career. Sanders, with plenty of seasons left in his tank, retired in 1999 as the second leading rusher in NFL history. He would have surpassed Walter Payton's career rushing record well before Emmitt Smith. Like the old commercial said: "No one's got the moves like Barry Sanders!" This one isn't it, but it is a commercial featuring the man!

Of course, we all know of John Belushi. Well, maybe not all of us. Our demographic doesn't reach the same audience that John did. But anyway, John was great. His most memorable work was Saturday Night Live, The Blues Brothers, and Animal House. John was the Chris Farley not of our time dying at the age of 33.

• • •

Plaxico Burress was on his way to being great...

...until he shot himself in the leg.

• • •

The Jamaican Bobsled Team from Cool Runnings. (*SPOILER WARNING*) They were so close but then crashed coming around the final turn. Although, the slow clap they received from the audience was probably better then winning the gold anyway. Thanks, Disney. Next time make a movie with a happy Hollywood ending.

• • •

Anne Frank. If she wouldn't have passed at the age of 15, who knows, we could've gotten a sequel to her book. Like "The Diary of Anne Frank 2: My Teenage Years". We could've learned about her experiences in high school, those pesky driver's learning permit days, and maybe there could've been a love interest for Ms. Frank. That would've been exciting.

...too soon?

• • •

Darius Miles could be on this list for two careers. His biggest let down, also known as his basketball career. And his short lived acting career. Anyone see, The Perfect Score?

• • •

And finally, Jack Dawson. (*SPOILER WARNING AGAIN*) Thanks to ole Jack here for dying at the end of Titanic. I was really hoping for another happy Hollywood ending, but Jack didn't have the mindset tohop on that huge door with Rose. Or even at least split time. You know like an on for one minute, off for one minute setup. They both could've lived. And then James Cameron would be once again raking in the money with Titanic 2. Who cares if the boat sank, we had a love story going that was far better than any boat!

Other Notable(s):
Marlon Brando in "On The Waterfront" - "He coulda' been a contenda'!"

Well, there is our list of Stars Who Coulda' Been The Greatest. If we missed some, which we know we did, go ahead and comment below telling us some more!
